Koi - P.O.T.D 21/08/2014

Koi are a group of fish that are ornamental varieties of domesticated common carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor ponds or gardens. The word koi comes from Japanese, simply meaning Carp. The usual 'Koi' refers to more specifically as nishikigoi in Japan. Koi varieties are distinguished by coloration, patterning and scalation.

I took this photo during my travel to GuangZhou China. I saw this koi fish pond and I have to create a photo but after taking a few shots with a fast shutter speed, I found the photo slightly dull, so I decide to go the abstract route and experiment with slower shutter speed. I end up with 1/4 sec in order to show some movement but also not slow enough to show the beautiful koi. I hope you enjoy this photo!

Until next time!
